My relationship with skincare products has always been somewhat long distance. Basically, I’d stalk online and stare at products from afar. I try to keep it one-sided, mostly out of fear from all the possible reactions I’d get from unfamiliar products — my skin is dry and hypersensitive due to Atopic Dermatitis.
In high school, my skin was actually pretty good. I’d get away with cheap makeup and random skincare buys though I was already prone to getting horrible rashes on my legs and arms. My condition only worsened in college with the rashes eventually migrating to my face. Ever since then I’ve been my sticking to just a 2 step skin care routine given to me by my dermatologist: tea tree cleanser and centella gel.
I figured though that if I’m just more aware of my limitations and if I do more research, I would be able to expand my skin routine, avoid frequent bad reactions and actually get to cater to my other skin issues that my cleanser and gel do not address. I mean, come on, I’ve been doing this routine for 10 years. My skin isn’t improving. At least, that’s how I feel…plus I’m jealous because of all the cool beauty blogs I’ve been reading. So many cool products to try out in the beauty market.
Anyways, I’ve been doing some heavy research and I’ve just finalized my list of products to try out for a 10-step skincare routine so I’ll be posting reviews soon. Here’s to hoping I get it right.
